Maine Scenes, No. 1, Baxter

One of my favorite vacation spots is the state of Maine. This particular photo is taken from the top of Mt. Katahdin of Baxter State Park in North Central Maine. The views from here are terrific. The hike is long and strenuous but well worth it. But don't take a wrong step; to the right is Knife's Edge, but unfortunately you can't see the top of that narrow sliver in this picture.

Maine is one state I've never visited. Someday, I hope.

Fred, if you enjoy camping and hiking, it is well worth the visit. A few places I recommend include Baxter State Park, Acadia National Park, Quoddy Head State Park, and Campobello International Park.

Baxter State Park is a wilderness area with few amenities - no showers, no running water except for what's in streams, and no in-park store. But the combination of mountains, lakes, streams, and forests make it almost paradise for me. Acadia National Park is a must for its beautiful rocky coast line. Quoddy Head State Park has a beautiful lighthouse along the shore line. And Campobello International Park is actually a Canadian island connected to Maine by a short bridge. President Franklin D. Roosevelt had a beautiful vacation home there that is now preserved as a museum. But there are some excellent shore line hiking trails there as well.

Time, its a breathtaking picture.

I had a friend Warren in a town Lindell in Maine. I havent heard of him for some years. Have you heard of Lindell or was it Lindall?

Hi fahd mirza. Maine has many more such scenic views some of which I'll be posting from time to time.

And, no, I'm not acquainted with the town of Lindell or Lindall, Maine. Do you know whether that was a really small town? I couldn't locate it on MapQuest.

Thanks for coming by.

I have only been to Maine once, while on a New England/Canada cruise. We visited Portland and Bar Harbor. Oh my! No wonder people like to go there!

Btw, I have just added your blog to my sidebar! Thanks for the nice pat on the back :)

Thanks, ginnie. Maine is a gorgeous state for those who love nature. I've probably been to Maine on more vacations than anywhere else.

And thanks for adding my blog to your side bar. That's an honor for me.
