A Current Day View of the Home Farm

I took this photo of the home farm two days ago. I grew up and lived for a long time in the house on the back left of this picture. Behind the house and extending a bit more to the right is the barn in which my dad had laying hens for many years. For many years, it was my duty to collect the eggs. To the right of the barn are some greenhouses runned by two of my brothers who sell seasonal type plants for a living. And in the distant back right are the silos of a neighboring dairy farm. This was my playing and working grounds for many years. For best view of the photo, do click on it for the larger version.

Wonderful ! I may imagine your childhood very well. The farm is so beautiful and vast ! Thank you for sharing.
One author I like very much is Laura Ingalls Wilder and my favorit book of her is "Farmer Boy"; in French: "un enfant de la terre", the story of her husband when kid.
Read Laura Inngalls is soothing when I'm tired or sad...

Such a lovely landscape. Collecting eggs sounds like a cool job, but did it get monotonous after a while?

Thanks, san nakji. But in regards to American farms, there are many different kinds and styles of farms in America. But I think just about all farms are interesting.

Hi, ocean. It was a great place to grow up in. Living in town, I do miss it at times.

Thanks, cergie. Laura Ingalls Wilder is a great writer. I think I read many of her books when younger.

Thanks, kristi. It was fun having all that space to play; but we also learned to work sometimes not so willingly. :)

Hi, minka. So you grew up on a farm, too?

Thanks, rubysoho. Most of the time, I enjoyed collecting the eggs. Oh, it got old at times; but I enjoyed being around the poultry stock.

Hi, abandoned in pasadena. Glad you enjoyed the pic.

Hi, ava. We never had horses growing up. The wife of one of my brothers though does have a horse.

Hi, godknows. Glad the pic brought pleasant reminiscing.

Thanks, andrea. It was beautiful place to grow up in.

This is exactly what I think of when I picture Penn. I've been there once and I loved the scenery with those big old barns and farm type buildings. Nice place.

Hi, spicebear. I'm glad this brought back good memories. If my posts can do that on a regular basis with people, then I am reaching some of my goals. And, oh yes, many farms look much different from this even in my local area in Pennsylvania.

Thanks, hick. Glad you enjoyed these pictures. Unfortunately, a lot of these farms and their buildings are disappearing due to the rapid growth of housing developments around here.
