Roberto's Diner and ...

Two Sundays ago, I and my parents were invited to the home of my three nieces and their parents. In the afternoon, we were invited to Roberto's Diner down in the basement of their home.

My oldest niece played the role of greeter, chef, and server. She played her roles quite well.

The Diner's Welcome Sign

The chef is serving her dad. Next to her dad is my next oldest niece and around the corner of the table is my dad.

Here is my niece's dad and my second oldest niece. On the table is some of the food that was being served my niece's dad.

This is my youngest niece. This is not a part of the Roberto's Diner scene but I did not want to exclude her from this post. She had been showing me some of her toy horses. The picture is not quite as sharp as I would like it to be due to the shutter time having been one whole second. I should have used flash.

Was that the kitchen oven I saw in the background?!

I really like the last picture that isn't as sharp. Sometimes, the inadvertant can add a lot to pictures and in this case, it gives it an artsy feel.

And who is this man rather tall and smilling, with fair hair.
He seems to me he is a nice guy.
You say nothing about him despite he appears twice.

Hi, ed abbey. That was a play kitchen oven you saw in the background. Glad you like the feel of the last picture. It does have a certain feel to it. :)

Hi, cergie. I think the man you are referring to is the man who I identified as the father of my nieces. He is also my brother.

Great photos, especially the last one - she is absolutely adorable. I have two daughters and two granddaughters and the pictures brought back memories. ec

Every time you post about your nieces, I feel like I'm getting to know them (which I guess is the point :) You come from such a great, close-knit family, Tim, as do I (the family that prays togethr stays together?). I love that your oldest niece did the role-playing. Such a great idea! And the face on your youngest niece is absolutely sharp and in focus. I love it! I also see that the middle niece has a bit of her uncle's wanderlust, wearing that hat :)

BTW, do your nieces ever look at your blog (I assume so, since you didn't want to leave the youngest out)? Do they ever leave comments? Wouldn't THAT be the day! :)

Hi, mreddie. Glad you enjoyed this post and the memories they bring back.

Thanks, ginnie. As I'm sure I said before family is special to us. We enjoy being with one another. As for whether my nieces look at the blog, I think they do sometimes when their parents look at it. As for family and friends who I know face to face posting on my blog, it happens very rarely. But perhaps as some point it may change. I know that some of them do regularly or semi-regularly look at it. So as probably is true with most blogs, I have an unseen audience that is larger in numbers than those who make themselves known.

Oh, yes, Tim. How right you are about family. Very few of my large-family members look at my blog, let alone comment. So I know what you mean! "A prophet has no honor in his own country" comes to mind :)

Hi, ginnie. I didn't think I was alone in this kind of situation unfortunately.

Roberto's Diner brings back such wonderful memories of my children serving up make believe dinners.

Your neices are cute and how nice to have all the dads & uncle play along with them. I really liked their sign.
