End of August Flowers and ...

At the end of August, I had photographed some of the flowers around my home church building - Deep Run East Mennonite Church in Bedminster Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania located half way between Pipersville and Dublin. The last picture is not a flower but I thought them an interesting growth underneath some evergreen trees.

That last picture is going to make Ed Abbey hungry. I didn't think it possible but your pictures are even prettier up close.

Koman Breast Cancer Foundation)and everyone wears pink.....even if your a man......ha!

By the way I forgot to mention those mushrooms....what a neat picture of them....that looks like a picture a man would mat and frame and hang in his den......or bathroom.... (I really do like it)

Posting August shots, are you trying to make us long for summer? I love the mushrooms.

I hope you don't mind a question about the Mennonite Church. What is the church's position on alcohol? I'd always assumed that in keeping things simple, the church would be against it, but I'm reading (actually listening to it while in the gym) a book on the Johnstown Flood and the author tells about the grandfather of Henry Clay Frick (an industrialist from Pittsburgh who was part owner of the lake that dam broke) who was a Mennonite and ran one of the largest distilleries in the US.

Amazing colours and beautiful flowers. Nature is the best thing to take pictures of. I like the last picture the best though :)

I love pictures of nature. The one of the mushrooms made me laugh - all the pretty flowers and then...fungi! Made me hungry for pizza (yum) – although, I always think of Babar when I see mushrooms growing wild…

Hi, murf. Thanks. I try. :)

Thanks, ginnie. Time does fly, doesn't it. Before you know it, snow will fly - at least up here. ;)

Thanks, judypatooote. You know, I once had a pink, long sleeve shirt that I really liked. And I think you're right. That mushroom picture would look good on the wall in a bathroom or den.

Hi, sage. Not particularly trying to make anyone long for summer. They just were the photos I had ready handy. The mushroom picture I thought would make a nice ending contrast. As for alcohol in the Mennonite church, it is really not talked about too much but generally carries a stigma - something you shouldn't do but not strictly forbidden. I do remember that one time as a teenager or young adult we did use real wine for communion. One doesn't usually think about laughing during communion; but that time, it was hard not to. As each row drank the wine, you started to hear another round of coughing begin. If there is more you want to know, let me know and I'll try to answer it.

Thanks, merili. The last photo is closest to nature least touch by man. I wonder whether that might be part of the attraction.

Thanks, tai. I'm glad you enjoyed all of them.

Thanks, darilyn. It seems like quite a number especially enjoyed the last picture. It does have its attraction.

Thanks, deals on wheels. Babar was one of my favorite children's stories. Glad I could make you laugh by having those mushrooms at the end. Sorry, I couldn't provide you the pizza.

We have all these beautiful garden flowers here too, and you've read what I wrote about mushrooms upstairs and underneath.
