Lake Nockamixon at Evening

This evening I went hiking at Lake Nockamixon on the side facing Bedminster, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. It was a cold evening. As will be seen in a future post, water puddles on the trail were frozen over. I even saw a few snow flakes fall.

Beautiful lake and beautiful sunset. My question is how did you find your way back in the dark? It was getting pretty dark in the last photos.

I could almost feel the icy chill while looking at these. Beautiful shots and hope you had a flashlight or were a speed walker.

Honestly I don't mind spending the rest of my life there LOL

Yeah..I too am curious about your post sunset jaunts into the woods.

Thanks, faye pekas. Lake Nockamixon is a pretty area. As for the dark, I didn't have far to go after taking the sunset pictures. Plus, the path was the deserted road I showed up top so it was no trouble to follow.

Thanks, photowannabe. Glad these picture could communicate well with you. :) I didn't have far to go; plus I'm not afraid of walking in the dark.

Hi, shionge. It is a gorgeous area that I'm glad I don't live far from.

Hi, murf. Did I answer your curiosity in my comments above? That area is almost a sacred place for me.

It looks warming, but I'll bet it was cold.

I love hiking in the evening at winter--you get such beautiful skies after sunset. great pics

I guess so. Could be the difference between a male and female. We're instilled with fear about being in the woods after dark by ourselves. You manly men can take care of yourselves. :-)

Winter makes for a better sunset though, it seems. I hope the Winter isn't too cold for you. But it's our time for the warm weather!

The sunset pictures are so beautiful! They look like paintings or professional photographs from a calendar or something! Gorgeous!

I like the wave picture

Tim, what mean exactly "hiking", does it mean you were on a horse ?

Nice photos! It takes me back to the east coast where I grew up (well sorta). The cold, crisp skies. Thanks!

you live in a really beautiful place:)

Hi, fred. It was cold that evening. I wore a windbreaker and a heavy sweatshirt for the hike. I had to alternate putting my hands in my pockets to keep them warm while carrying my camera and tripod.

Thanks, sage. The skies were beautiful at that time. It is a great time to hike.

Hi, murf. Perhaps, so. So is the difference innate or learned?

Hi, mreddie. I think this time the cold and the beautiful went together well.

Thanks, rubysoho. It is good to hear from you and so good to know that I made your day. :)

Thanks, ginnie. I enjoy sharing these nature hikes with you.

Thanks, I*IcheI*I©. It makes me feel good when I can show nature in its beauty.

Thanks, san nakji. Winter isn't too bad here yet. It's been abnormally warm for most of the fall and we're only starting to get some cold weather. Even this cold weather hasn't been all that bad.

Thanks, ash. Nature presents us with much beauty if we only take notice.

Thanks, deals on wheels. It helped a lot that I now have a light weight tripod that I can carry around with me. With the tripod, I don't have to worry about having a high enough shutter speed to eliminate the effect of any camera shake.

Thanks, cergie. I like the water picture, too. Hiking according to my dictionary means to take a long walk in nature usually for pleasure.

Thanks, getzapped. Glad I could bring back some good memories.

Thanks, choochoo. There is lots of beauty all around.

I have to admit it, I just can't get my head around the winter thing, certainly not this year. i just don't want to be cold in any respect, but I'm facing at least a one-off in this place where I live that is a battle. I'm not used to the interior humidity, too much space that doesn't heat up, etc. And the worst hasn't arrived yet. I just need some warmth, like I've been used to. A cold winter hike out in the open is only fine if you have a warm home to go back to, right?

Oooh...tough question, Tim. For me, I'd have to say innate because at my core, I'm just a bit scaredy cat. :-)

Ah, miles stone, it sure does help to have a nice, warm house to come back to after enjoying a cold wintery outdoors. :)

Hi, murf. Maybe, it's a bit of both, you think?
