My Favorite Beverage

One of my favorite homemade beverages consists of a cup of milk, a container of yogurt, a banana, an egg, and a fresh or frozen non-citrus fruit. In the picture above, for both yogurt and fruit I used strawberry; but I also like to use blueberry, and peach. I mix it all up in a blender and normally get a yield of one and a half to two glasses of the beverage. I like to make it especially after coming back from either a long bike ride, hike, or walk. It's thoroughly refreshing.

That sounds great. Anything with banana has my vote!

Enjoy it then while you can. I just read in a newspaper today that in ten to twenty years bananas may not be available. Thanks for visiting my blog.

I eat yogurt for breakfast nearly every morning, and I'm trying to get more into shakes like these too, but you added an egg? I'd be too scared to eat a raw egg.

Hi crystal. Thanks for stopping by. And yes, I add a raw egg. I grew up on a poultry farm and my dad frequently made us fresh egg nog using raw (of course unpasteurized)eggs. And we never got sick from it which is not to say that it couldn't happen to me at some point. But I don't worry about it. In the bakery I work at we do buy pasteurized eggs; it's required by state law unless we would break the eggs right at the time we're making the product.

HAHA...I tried it this morning. Thanks for the recipe, I loved it. I think I'll try to create my own too.

Hi rubysoho. I'm glad you enjoyed my recipe. And it certainly is a recipe that can be done with many variations. Good to hear from you.
