The Giving Pond, part 2
Last Saturday afternoon, I went for a hike at The Giving Pond along River Road near Uhlerstown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. It was an extra warm day; I didn't need any jacket or coat. Note the green leaves in the third picture. We have been having an abnormally warm fall and winter. It was a good place to do some thinking and communing with God.

A beautiful pond. Is it flooded or does it always have trees growing in the water?
Giving pond is a great name. Where did it come from?
btw, that's an interesting name? Any idea of its origin? Is there a giving tree around too?
I can see how that pond would be an area of respite and clearer thinking. Wonderful!

I especially like the 5th pic, Tim, because of the sky. I always feel that Nature is THE place to best commune with God, though, of course, it happens anywhere. So glad you have these special times/places!

Hi, sage. As I recall it was called The Giving Pond because an old quarry was transformed into something that could continue to give to the surrounding community.

Tim when you go out to nature for walks and ponder about 'God' what kind of indicators are there that show you 'God' is around and listening ?

Hi, consise10. Mostly it is the sense of worship that wells up within me that convinces me that God is around. It's not only nature that does that to me though. Sometimes, many times, God uses other people to bring me closer to Him. That doesn't mean I don't have dry times when I wonder where God is at. But the communion that I do experience, the love of other Christians, and the persistent love of God carries me through those times. You see, I think God seeks me like a hound dog on the trail.
So it leads to a Red Lobster restaurant? How handy. :-)
murf, if that is where your imagination takes this trail, so be it. However, my imagination would never take this trail to something so commercialized. ;)

Wonderful photos! Where does the name "Giving Pond" come from? I'm always interested in the history behind such names.
Hi, Charlie. I don't know the full story behind the name. But it has something to do with it being changed from a quarry to a park that keeps on giving to the surrounding community.
