This is of course the dunking booth. Our pastor, associate pastor, junior youth leader, and one other person were in the dunking booth for one hour each. This year for the first hour I assisted with collecting the softballs that were repeatedly thrown. Last year, I was in the dunking booth for an hour.
Each year we provide costumes for kids to dress up in and then provide them one photograph of their costume within minutes.
These two tables are almost all cookies and cupcakes provided by members of our church for the festival. We also provide free hotdogs and sloppy joes for all who come out.

Well...with all that food spread out on that table I thought it was a bunch of Baptists getting together to do what we do best....EAT!!!
next year you need to get back in the dunking booth and invite all your blog friends to come... maybe you can find a way to allow us to throw a virtual softball! Looks like great fun.

Thanks, trailady. I think it's good for us as individuals and churches to take time to just enjoy and celebrate life as was happening in this festival.

Thanks, sage. Being in the dunking booth can be lots of fun. But it can also be chilly when one is wet and up out in the air. Usually by September the temperature is only in the seventies with a rotating mixture of clouds and sun and a breeze blowing. But you are all invited to come next year in person. Virtually - too complicated and wouldn't be as much fun. :)
Tim - I've been asked that question numerous times and I don't think I or anyone else, have been able to answer it. :-)
I'm going to start getting my right arm in ball throwing form for next year.
I was lsightly shocked by teh car-demolition...but the rest seemed gentle and lovely :)
It's nice to have a church large enough to have a festival...my church is running out of kids, and most of the congregation is older folks.....like me....lol and not to many of us left.....I do go to church with my daughter ever so often and it's huge, with tons of kids.....I love all the activity at that church.....my two granddaughters use to go to a Mennonite run school, in Indiana...

Hi, minka. Maybe, it's a man thing. Sometimes, us men just like to test ourselves to see how strong we are. Those old cars are all metal. You'd probably be surprise how hard it is to significantly demolish them. And it's fun to see power at work in a way that doesn't hurt people.
Thanks, judypatooote. I appreciate a church with all generations represented. There's something wholesome about that. But I also know that churches can struggle and sometimes find it hard to keep growing that way.
Car demolition? Wow! How fun would that be? I have a good mind to jump on a plane and get over there for that! Will I be too late?

Oh, Tim...just wait. The only way you won't be dunked is if you don't write about it beforehand so that I don't put that into MY busy schedule....or I am too busy staring at the shirtless man from this years dunk tank.
What a great way to unite your communitity, Tim! I have always known Mennonites to be very socially conscious and "out-giving." What a great heritage to be a part of. I'm so proud of you :)
